Why do you use CAATTs rather than the more common CAATs?
How much are the dues?
How much does it cost to attend the meetings?
Do you have to know ACL to attend the meetings?
Q: Why do you use CAATTS rather than the more common CAATS?
A:
David Coderre, the author of CAATTS and Other BEASTS for Auditors pointed out that the T in CAATs can stand for Tools or Techniques depending on who you talk to, but that Computer Aided Auditing is useless unless you have both Tools and Techniques. Dave thus advocates the use of CAATTs over CAATs, and we tend to agree.
Q: How much are the dues?
A:
The group initially agreed to a $50.00 per member per year or $150 corporate membership. We initially agreed that the first year would be offered at a discount of 50% while the group proved itself. That being said, most of the chapters don't collect dues.
Q: How much does it cost to attend the meetings?
A:
Nothing.
Q: Do you have to know ACL to attend the meetings?
A:
No, the goal of the TexasACL user group is to train others in the use of CAATTS/ACL. While knowing ACL is helpful, it is not required.
