Porter Broyles MBA, FLMI, ACDA
Porter Broyles is one of the best known ACL users in the country. In addition to being the founder and president of the TexasACL User Group, he is one of only two "Super Users" on the official ACL User Forum (The other being David Coderre.) He has been recognized several times by ACL as an expert with ACL.
- In August 2007, he had an article published in Take Command, ACL's quarterly magazine. The article was on Naming Conventions in ACL.
- In December 2007, he was featured by ACL in their "Best Practices of Highly Effective Auditors" campaign.
- In April 2008, he was a guest speaker at ACL's Annual Conference Connections. His presentation, "Advanced Scripting: Automating Processes" was one of the most demanded topics and Porter was asked to give his presentation twice. Porter and Dave were the only two ACL users recognized in both the opening and closing comments of the conference.
- In August 2008, he took part in a panel disussion related to ACL's Seven Best Practices campaign.
- In September 2008, he gave a presentation entitled, "CAATTS: Show me the Money" to the Houston IIA.
- In March 2009, an article on Variable Script Writing was published in the Take Command, ACL's quarterly magazine.
- In May 2009, he will be the keynote speaker at ACL's 2009 Annual Conference in San Francisco, CA.
Porter Broyles has worked for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, TIAA/CREF, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers. While at PwC, Porter was part of their National Standards Committee for ACL Script providing technical expertise. He was also helping to redesign the internal training provided to their ACL Data Analyst. He is currently working for Harris County in Houston, Texas as a Continuous Controls Analyst II where he is helping to design the county's continuous audit program.
Prior to starting his professional career, Porter spent four years studying for the ministry and was a professional children's entertainer. He says that if some clown can learn to use ACL then anybody can learn it.
